A symbol of sharing
Throughout this week, pre-cast concrete and fiberglass composition signs bearing three crosses are being installed above the windows on the first floor of the new Community Center. The three crosses are significant as they represent the three parts of St. Monica Catholic Community: our elementary school, high school, and parish. Once this phase of construction is complete in August, all three entities will have significantly more space to gather, practice, study, meet, park, and worship.
Building the Grand Patio
In the picture above are various samples of concrete in a variety of colors and textures from which the construction team will select to use on the Grand Patio.By laying out the samples, it helps to visualize how these pieces will look together. The Grand Patio will be located between the Community Center and Reception Pavilion and will be a wonderful place of gathering for our community. The placement of this concrete is one of the last projects on the construction timeline.
Hard Hat Tours Underway
Throughout the past two weeks, members of our parish council, ministry councils, and church staff got a first look inside the new Community Center. Wearing hard hats, the group toured both the first and second floors, as well as the parking garage and the Reception Pavilion, before heading outside and training their eyes to envision what the building’s skeleton framework will look likein its finished form. The new building will provide ample office space as well as meeting space, not to mention much needed parking and a facility to accommodate large events. Some exciting new features include the Music Ministry Suite, Hope at the Door Welcome Center, and an outdoor patio and reception area. This building will be put to work right away just in time for the busy fall season.
