The Sacrament of MarriageMusicWelcome to the Saint Monica Wedding Music page!We hope this page will provide useful information and sound clips for couples planning their instrumental wedding music selections. Instrumental music for wedding ceremonies basically includes the following: 1.Preludes (PRE) are played as the guests arrive, and serve to set the tone while people gather. 2.Processional (PROC) pieces are played while mothers are being seated and while the bridal party and the bride are processing up the aisle. 3.Recessional (REC) music begins when the bride and groom kiss and during the bridal party exit. 4.Postludes (POST) conclude the ceremony as the guests move from their pews out to the door. There are many choices of music available, and each wedding is customized to the couple. To help you get some ideas flowing, we have recorded some of the most requested standard repertoire, which can be listened to with the music player below. Music PlayerInstrumentsKeyboards There is a grand piano and an electric organ on the main floor of the church. In the balcony is a genuine pipe organ with a host of pipes sounding like flutes, reeds, and brass. The sound clips posted here feature the grand piano and the pipe organ in the Saint Monica sanctuary. Adding instruments We are happy to contract additional professional musicians for your wedding if that idea is appealing. Acoustic instruments to consider would be trumpet, flute, violin, cello, guitar, harp, oboe, and ensembles such as trios and quartets. Bands are also available and can be heard at 9:30, 1:15, and 5:30 Sunday masses. Bands include drums, bass, guitar, electric keyboards and additional options to suit your taste. ContactOur staff accompanist, Merrill Collins, plays the organs and grand piano at the Sunday 7:30 and 11:30 masses.
